A new theory about sleep's benefits for the brain gets a boost from fruit flies in the journal Science. Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found evidence that sleep, already recognized as a promoter of long-term memories, also helps clear room in the brain for new learning.
Washington University scientists used genetically modified fruit flies to track the creation of new brain synapses, junctures where two brain cells communicate. They found that two scenarios that give the fruit fly's brain a workout caused new synapses to arise. To their surprise, all of the new synapses originated from a group of 16 cells in the fly brain's internal timekeeping mechanism.
i think this is really amazing because maybe in the future they will let us sleep alittle after avery lesson even if you were in 12th grade!!!! this is really cool kind of science and this kind of science is what really going to help us creat that flying-car-future!!!!!!!!!11
An Amsterdam based company called nothing constructed; or in Dutch nooit gemaakt. that actually means never made. they did something very amazing, they made the whole interior of an office using cardboard. from the stairs to the furniture, they said to their designers no screw no glue. all pieces are connected by interlocking the pieces of cardboard. it is so strong that it can hold computers, overhead lighting as well as the body of an human bean. it toke them 500 sq meters of card board to produce 1500 pieces of cardboard. the company did the faeture, couches and chairs;aren’t made of cardboard. this is what the founder of the company said micheal Jansen "Nothing is about the power of ideas, about how a single idea can transform nothing into something," "Using a cheap, throw-away material to build a unique and memorable work space seemed a good way to materialize this thought.
This is very important because now the economy dropt. finding alternative uses for cardboard is very good. because the prices and demand for cardboard dropt a lot and. a lot cheaper. cardboard is used to ship 90% of any costumer product to the us. so making an office out of it is better for the invernement, and for us
The tsa made an new invention a whole body scanner thar reveals anything on the body even see through clothing and underpands and lingerie but this only used for seeing weapons and mass destruction weapons like bombs and explosives. This device is used in six airports in the u.s and next year it will be also in the netherland, Thailand, japan and the uk in the us the device is used in San Francisco, Miami, Albuquerque, Tulsa, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. And the other device the mmw who shows an 3d image of the persons body and what it is wearing is going to be used early next year in L.A.X los angeles and JFK newyork.
I think this isint good because it is against peoples privacy u can see their personal shapes and stuff but it is good for getting guns but I don’t agree I think the old system is affective enough searching with ur hands and the beep machine.
the article is about a robot who mimicks human childs, it is said that he is reaaly scary looking and he is advancing a lot ... in mimmickin. ummm it also uses social skills by using its camera to record facial expressions and match them up with what's going on.
I think that this article is very inporatnat because robots are interesting and theyre cool.. :P
