If you get this week's article and last week's article time-stamped by Monday April 6th at 8:30, I will give full credit. If they are not in by 8:30, they will not count. Each article is worth 5 points.
Artic summers could be ice free in 30 years A new study suggests that all of the ice in the Arctic may not last until the end of the year like some scientists thought. In recent years the ice in those areas has gotten thinner and lots more ice has melted. This past summer was the second lowest ice area on record. The arctic is changing faster than we ever anticipated. The melting of this ice can cause the water levels to rise and a lot more of the earth could be covered with water.
http://www.livescience.com/environment/090331-world-population.html A White House advisor has said that the earth has reached its population limit. The rate of growth of the earth's population needs to be decreased, or the earth will no longer be able to support the billions of people living on it. This is very important, because the generations who follow us depend on it. If we overpopulate the earth, then the next generations livelihood will be threatened.
Research shows that sleep clears the brain for new learning. Already thought to help with long-term memory, this new theory about sleep gives rise to an essential question: How do all these processes work? Neurologists are still trying to find answers. Tests were conducted on flies, since they have similar brains with human beings. However, the human brain is more complex and therefore this research could be misleading. I find this reasearch fascinating because it studies an important aspect of our lives. If this research is proved to be true than it could pave the way towards more research and help find other ways to promote leaning.
