My article is about Birds.
Everyone recognizes birds. They are animals which have feathers, wings, two legs, and a bill. Less uniquely, they have a backbone, are warm-blooded, and lay eggs. Everyone knows that birds fly, amuses us with their songs, and their moves up in the sky. But what we don’t know is that they actually can recognize us. In recent years, biologists found out that their songs are incredibly complex communications that scientists are just beginning to decode. Crows are great toolmakers and learners. Birds can follow our gaze. And at least one cockatoo and a grey parrot can dance, though their rhythm is suspect. Now it looks like mockingbirds are capable of recognizing humans who make repeat visits to the birds' nests.
The article is interesting because it gives us a clue of what actually bird are doing up in the sky, and we learned that their songs are a way to communicate with each other, and sometimes to prevent danger!! It also gives up a summary of the latest studies done by professionals.
The article is very accurate because it’s taken from Live Science which is a real science blog. And the result of this article is made by Doug Levey a professor and scientist from the University of Florida.

I am writing about why people feel the desire to kiss!
The simplest answer for that question is that people kiss because it feels good. People had begun to study the anatomy and evolutionary history of kissing and call themselves Philematologists. Those Philematologists haven’t yet explained the scientific reason why people feel the desire to kiss, but they came up with some theories that actually kissing is related to our biology which is affected by a passionate “lip-lock.”
The big question is whether kissing is learned or instinctual. Some scientists believe that it is a learned behavior, back to the days of our early human ancestors. When mothers may have chewed food and passed it from their mouths into those of their toothless infants.
Supporting the idea that kissing is learned rather than instinctual is the fact that not all humans kiss. Certain tribes around the world just don't make out, anthropologists say, while 90 percent of humans actually do kiss, 10 percent have no idea what they are missing!!!
Others believe kissing is indeed an instinctive behavior, and cite animals' kissing-like behaviors as proof. While most animals rub noses with each other as a gesture of affection, others like to pucker up just like humans.
Today, the accepted theory of kissing is that humans do it because it helps us sniff out a quality mate. When our faces are close together, our pheromones exchanges biological information about whether or not two people will make strong offspring. Women, for example prefer the men whose genes for certain immune system proteins are different from their own.
The article is interesting because it explain why do people have strong feelings, or desire to kiss. And it explain the origins of kissing whether we learn it or whether it something instinct, our nature.
This article is accurate because it’s taken from a live science which is scientific blog. The article is provided by Scienceline, and it is a project by New York University's Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program.

My article is about Revisiting Spirituality and AIDS
Latest studies suggest that actually spiritual faith had helped many cases to live longer and some to cure themselves from Aids. A recent story suggests that a woman with an HIV-positive who has never taken medicine and says that the power of prayer has kept her disease from developing into full-blown AIDS.
A 2006 study found that people who turned to God after their HIV-positive diagnosis remained much healthier than those who turned away spiritually. Researchers measured a much lower viral load in the bodies of believers, as well as higher rates of CD-4 immune cells that combat the HIV virus. The power of prayer alone did not replace medicine. The study suggest that sick people who are believers are much optimistic and have high levels of compliance in taking medicine, as well as social support and optimism.
The psychiatrist explained that there is probability with the murky mind-body connection, with other unseen psychological factors possibly playing a role between spiritual wellbeing and a better health outcome. Some studies have also shown that prayer may help psychologically, which is consistent with research that illustrates the positive psychological aspects of living a spiritual life.
However, nothing suggests that even the strongest spirituality can or should replace modern medicine at this time.
The article is interesting because it shows miracles. How can a believer actually stay healthier even if he diagnosed with HIV-positive, and that’s because mentally he believes that someone will help him through this situation, his optimism is helping the rest of his body to function and that’s beyond science capacity!!!!
The article is accurate because it’s taken from Livescience blog, and there is witness who actually experiences the same thing as that woman

I am writing about How music can Soothes Circumcision Pain
According to new research, music can help ease pain and provide therapeutic benefits for babies undergoing common medical procedures, including circumcision.
Neonatal units are using music as a way to manage pain for babies during routine practices. It is thought that playing music helps calm babies and stabilizes some of their vital functions.
To evaluate music's effects on infants, scientists from the University of Alberta in Canada reviewed nine previous studies which included both premature and full-term babies.
The Alberta researchers found very preliminary evidence that music has a beneficial effect during certain procedures, such as blood sampling and circumcision.

Studies examined music's benefits for babies having a heel prick (a method for sampling blood from a newborn). In these studies, the music had a favorable effect on the infants' pain and heart rate, and sometimes helped with their behavior. Some of the studies also indicated that music improved feeding rates in premature babies.

Babies are not the only population found to respond positively to music and to enjoy therapeutic benefits from it. Past studies have shown that music can reduce the need for sedation during surgery, boost the immune system, and help stroke patients improve their motor skills. Music has also been found to decrease stress and anxiety and help athletes excel during competition.
The article is interesting because it shows the latest studies done by scientist on ways to ease pain during surgery for babies and also for adults. As the article stated Music is really beneficial.
These information are accurate because it’s taken from Live science, and we also sees ourselves when we are angry, or depressed by actually putting music on it help us surmount our depression, anxiety and sometimes stress.

my article is to answer this question:why do we sleep ?
The answer to this question is that no one is really sure .
sleep is important because to "maintaining normal levels of cognitive skills such as speech, memory, innovative and flexible thinking." Some people said that it gives us energy but the energy we get by sleeping eight hours is 50 kCal which is not a lot .
The amount of time required to sleep varies from a person to a person .The average to sleep is
7.75.The world record for the longest period without sleeping is 11 days , that was in 1965 by Randy Gardner.

1.Frequent urination:you go to the bathroom often .
2.Disproportionate thirst:you drink water a lot.
3.Intense hunger:you become hungry .
4.Weight gain:if you get hungry , you eat a lot.
5.Unusual weight loss:muscle tissue and fat are broken down for energy
6.Increased fatigue:glucose doesn t enter the cells and give them enery so you are tired all the time .
7.Blurred vision:a tissue is being pulled from eyes lesence.
8.Cuts and bruises don't heal properly or quickly:cuts and bruises takes time to heal.
9.More skin and/or yeast infections
10.Gums are red and/or swollen:teeth become looses when you take off the gum and the gum is red and tender .
11.Frequent gum disease/infection:you get gum disease
12.Sexual dysfunction among men:men are unable to do sex
13.Numbness or tingling, especially in your feet and hands:nerves become damaged and your feest and hands get numbness.
I think everyone has to know the symptoms of diabetes so if he got one of this symptoms he could go to the doctor and heal himself before it is late.

My article is about nutrients .
WE have to eat variety of food to provide all the nutrients we need so that the body preform well.
Proteins are made by amino acids because some amino acids can not be made by the body , we take them by food which are called amino acids.Protein is needed to grow cells , we can find it in animal and plant food.(cheese, yogurt, meat and eggs).
Carbohydrate is the one that gives us most energy .There is two types of carbohtdrates:simple and complex.Simple carbohydrates are sugars and Complex carbohydrates are starchy food like bread, rice , cereals and pasta. These food gives us energy, fiber ,B vitamins, iron and calcium.
Fibre is food that we get from plants .There is two types :soluble and insoluble.Soluble fiber reduces cholesterol in blood , we could find it in fruits, vegetables and oats.Insoluble fiber avoid constipation and makes you full .
I think we have to know all the nutrients to vary food and we have to know where we can find them to have a healthy diet to avoid any disease and gain weight .

This article introduces a new machine recently invented in Japan that will compress every-day office waste, and turn it into rolls of toilet paper.
This is extremely efficient. If all offices would put these new machines to use in their offices to recycle their used paper products, they could then have an easy source of toilet paper. This would be much cheaper than buying toilet paper and easier to produce.

This is an article describing a new XBOX 360 game in that features a boy named Milo who will play and talk to the user by applying XBOX 360's Project Natal full body control system. It allows kids to feel as if they're actually playing and talking to Milo.
This could be a great tool for kids who lack social skills and want to practice them with someone who won't make fun of them. On the other hand, it could make them even more anti-social depending on the kid and his/her personality.

mercury is in danger of losing its atmosphere. the reason for this is recently there has been a magnetic tornado which is caused by the leak in the magnetic field that keeps other things out. these many holes in the atmosphere can prove to be problems.

the atmosphere of mercury is so thin that the human eye couldn't see it, but the magnetic field acroding to Dr. James A. Slavin of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center there is a constant flow of energy of plasma from the sun that gets in the holes of the magnetic field and creates funnel like magnetic tornado's that hurt the extremely thin atmosphere.

i think that this is something that is not very useful to know, because, well duh we don't live on mercury, but its good to find out things about our solar system

My article is about something so infamous that sailors and airplane pilots cringe when thinking of it.
the bermuda triangle.

a recent article was done in research of this 'deadly' place. there observations were quite interesting and had much scientific credibility. the first obervation is that there are many hurricanes that go threw this area, along with many thunderstorms. these thunderstorms also contribute to many different weather anomolies such as microbursts that are strong enough to knock over a vessel.
also another observation that they had was that there is alot of methane gas and if a large enough bubble were to surface over a ship it would cause it to sink to the bottom of the ocean and stay there.
also more crazy theories is time worps that can transport planes to destinations faster than normal, a survivor is writing a book about one of these expiriences.

i think that it is nessicary to figure out why this mysterious place has so much termoil.

This is a good way for recyclage because there is a lot of office papers that are waisted and now they can be useful .Another thing is that there is people who can t afford toilet paper , with this machine toilet paper would be probably cheaper and poor people could afford it and it is easier to produce !

-Carbon dioxide and other air pollution that is collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun's heat and causing the planet to warm up. Although local temperatures fluctuate naturally, over the past 50 years the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history. Americans make up just 4 percent of the world's population, they produce 25 percent of the carbon dioxide pollution from fossil-fuel burning by far the largest share of any country. In fact, the United States emits more carbon dioxide than China, India and Japan, combined.

The only possible way to cut global worming is by reducing pollution from vehicles and power plants. Right away, scientists should put existing technologies for building cleaner cars and more modern electricity generators into widespread use. Consumers can also increase their reliance on renewable energy sources such as wind, sun and geothermal. And we can manufacture more efficient appliances and conserve energy.

Reserches about global worming are increadibly important. Every body depends on earth and on it well being to be able to live peacefuly. Global worming caused deaths in france, and fire in some us forests. Global worming is vary dangerous because it can also cause natural catastrophes like "Katrina" This catastrophe took of a whole city from the map. This city is underwater now.

-comparesion between the earth and the moon

The Moon has approximately 1/4 Earth's diameter, 1/50 Earth's volume, and 1/80 Earth's mass. Earth is very dense overal it hast the most density of all the planets, but the Moon is light for its size. The difference is partly because Earth has a large core of iron and other heavy metallic elements, while the Moon has only a small core, if it has a core at all. The Moon's surface gravity is 1/6 of Earth's, and escape velocity from the surface is about 1/5 of Earth's.

The Moon's surface is covered with rock and grit that are mostly dark-gray minerals, so it reflects light poorly compared to Earth, which always has highly-reflective clouds. The Moon reflects visible light about 1/3 as well as Earth, and because of its much smaller size, has a visual brightness less than 1/40 that of Earth, when both are fully illuminated and seen from the same distance a difference of four stellar magnitudes can be noticed.

Internet
One of the greatest things about the Internet is that nobody really owns it. It is a global collection of networks, both big and small. These networks connect together in many different ways to form the single entity that is known as Internet. In fact, name comes from this idea of interconnected networks.

Since its beginning in 1969, the Internet has grown from four host computer systems to tens of millions. However, just because nobody owns the Internet, it doesn't mean it is not monitored and maintained in different ways. The Internet Society, a non-profit group established in 1992, oversees the formation of the policies and protocols that define how we use and interact with the Internet.

First article: Could Power Point Presentations Be Stifling Learning?
(Sciencedaily.com)

+For the past twenty years, Microsoft powerpoint was widely used for all kinds of presentations. Most truly believe that using a powerpoint presentation is a very effective tool of teaching. They think that it keeps the students interested especially when animations and vivid graphs are used. however, shocking new research proves the opposite. Stephen Mahar of the University of North Carolina Wilmington and colleagues presented two powerpoint presentations to two different groups of students. Although the presentations contained the same information, one used animations and the other didn't. Afterwards, the students were tested on their understanding of the information provided by the presentations. The results showed that those that did not view the animations had higher average scores than the other group's.
I think this experiment is interesting because it questions a generally accepted teaching method. The fact that animations might actually be a source of distraction rather than just a way of keeping the student entertained should truly be considered whenever a teacher is trying to inform using a powerpoint presentation. I agree with this article, and I believe that some presentations are just too distracting especially in the contemporary world where the majority of hte population seems to have a relatively short attention span.

Iam going to leave a comment about wiam's article.
I think what she wrote was very interresting specially for us girls who needs to vary their food in order to have a healthy diet because some diet can make you loose so much weight and you gain double without counting the diseases you can get, plus your hair loss, you skin color also changes to pale white. I agree what she wrote on each of the element that make up our food like amino acid, protein ect. In order to stay healthy you need to know the components of your food and specially what are you eating because Macdonals is far from being a helthy food it has a lot of calories.
You diet should be varied and balanced.
Thank you wiam for bringing that subject, and I thank my self for this wonderful comment!!!!

Facebook is similar to Myspace, being that it's a networking site. It is generally used by high schoolers and college students, but there are other users as well. Facebook has other benefits, though that Myspace does not, such as your ability to select different applications to add onto your Facebook that allows other people to interact with you besides just leaving a comment.

Second Article - New Chemical Element In The Periodic Table(Sciendaily.com)

Professor Sigurd Hofmann and his colleagues have discovered a new element, 112,which just has been recognized as a new element by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). This element is 277 times heavier than hydrogen and is the heaviest element of the periodic table. It has been discovered for the first time in 1996 then in 2002, but it just has been confirmed since other accelator facilities have produced more atoms of this element with 112 protons. To produce this element Zinc atoms were accelerated. The team, however, still has to name it.
I think this article is interestins simply because a new element has officially been discovered. It certainly will have different important uses. It is just a sign of undeniable progress in the scientific world. I do agree with this article and support this team which has also discovered 5 other elements- element 107 is called Bohrium, element 108 Hassium, element 109 Meitnerium, element 110 Darmstadtium, and element 111 is named Roentgenium.

+ Astronomers have found out that a black hole in one of our neighboring galaxies is three times bigger than previously thought. Scientists compute the mass of a black hole by calculating its velocity, its gravitational pull, and the velocity of the stars orbiting the black hole. These calculations provide fairly accurate measurements.
I think this is fascinating because it changes all the previous ideas about how black holes work, the mechanisms behind their formaton, and the relationship between their sizes and the different galaxies. I agree with this article because the measurements are official and have been calculated by professionals. However, I am still curious about the purpose of black holes.

Fourth Article - Origins of the Swine Flu Virus (Sciencenews.org)

By comparing mutations among different strains of the virus, scientists were able to discover the origins of the H1N1 virus. It has been shown that this virus was circulation for up to 17 years now. Although these estimations are not completely accurate, it is a fact that this virus has been around for a long time. Furthermore, Swine flu is now considered a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
I think this article is interesting because it shows that this virus has been circulating for years without anyone being aware of it. It symmetrically implies that proper surveillance had not been performed. I agree with this article and I think more effort should be made in studying and examining animal health in order to prevent such crises.

Response - Nada's kissing article

Personally, I think that kissing is instinctual rather than learned. It might be used as a way to detect pheromones or simply understand the partner's feelings in a way that transcends regular forms of communication. However,I think that we should not seek to find scientific meaning behind this behavior because it would take away all the charm and mystery out of this act of affection. I believe that this tendency of human beings to always try to understand everything just makes our lives boring and miserable. As Oscar Wilde said "One should absorb the colour of life, but one should never remember its details. Details are always vulgar."
Science is killing innoncence, love, and romanticism nowadays. :(

i dont think that impossible because human have emotion and robots wont ever be able to read that.

Why does gravity only pull?one of the seven mysterious questions about gravity, and here it is the reason: its related to quantum field theory, because the particles that transmit the strong and weak and electromagnetic forces have various types of charge, such as electric or colour charge and those charge are either negative or positive so it leads to a different possibilities to the sign of the force; and because gravity respond to density change, and that is always positive. it will be kinda of cool if the gravity goes in the other way.

the world health organization has recently raised the pandemic level to 6 which means it is a world wide case. this is to encourage countries to take better actions against the flu so that vacines can be developed and people can be rid of this dispicable disease. personally i think that people are giving the disease to much credit because the mortality rate of this disease is less than the common flu. so all in all i think this raise in the level is just to scare people, but i do think action still needs to be taken to contain this pandemic.

Apparently this company wants to sell at least 60 of these within the first year at a price of $95,000. This machine is used to recycle and is good for the environment.
Another way a company can save money is by simply storing things on the computer instead of printing out hard copies! :)

The permafrost carbon pool contains more than 100 times the current annual input of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere from human activity. This is a huge problem that could change our world drastically!! There is twice as much CO2 in soils and permafrost of northern ecosystems than in the atmosphere today. Because of the size and nature of the permafrost carbon pool, decomposition of previously frozen, old, organic carbon is one of the most things that will change the temperatures in our world today.
