scientist have found that when in deep sleep neurons take a break. this helps you stay asleep even when you hear a noise or when someone touches you. researchers were interesting in a type of EEG squiggle called K-complex. It's shows up in a person while they are sleeping and they hear a noise and are disturbed.

A doctor used a drill to drill a boys head to save his life. he was suffering from head trauma. He aparently saved his life ONLY using a household tool, the drill.

I think this article is important because it shows us that a doctor could use any tool , at any time , and that it doesnt have to be special doctor tools..!!! :P i guess!!

Modern boas and anacondas adverage about 20 ft. but the titanoboa reaches up to about 43 ft. :O instead of eating Chihuahuas, cats, and other small pets this snake eats LARGE TURTLES!!!! The tropical climate would've had to be at least 8 degress warmer for it to have survived because it's a cold blooded snake and needed it to be really warm. the titanoboa was most likely the largest non-marine creature living on earth that that time.

by driss: today in my article i will talk about tigers.
An alarm sounded around the world when India's tiger population was
found to be teetering on the brink of extinction in the early 1970s.
In 1972, the government formed Project Tiger to protect the tiger
forests and banned shooting any of India's remaining 1,800 tigers.
Funds flowed in from all over the world and by 1989 the number of
tigers in India had climbed to 4,300.
Population growth and rural development such as the construction
of mammoth dams in some areas are destroying the natural habitats of

tigers. Although trafficking in wildlife products is banned in
India, poaching of tigers for their skin, bones and body parts used in Chinese medicine has exacerbated problem. So I think that people have to get used to tigers, and live them alone so they have to do protection for them so they will not be extinced.

(Ancient Elite Island With Pyramid Found in Mexico)

The island called Apupato belonged to the powerful Tarascan Empire which had much of western Mexico from A.D. 1400 to 1520, before the Europeans invaded Latin America. The island was for rituals, priests, and elites.I find this important because it is an interesting place for treasure hunters to go and for archaeologists to study.

A Killer Cold?
For most people flu is a seasonal annoyence, that by a can be identified by a fever, a headache, and a sore throat. A few days to a week and you're over it. However, the virus can be a lot more serious. Influenza, as it's properly known, causes up to half a million deaths a year worldwide. And less than a century ago it became a global catastrophe, striking a fifth of the planet's population and claiming more than 50 million lives. Experts say we can expect a similar outbreak in the future

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT cause it can actually kill and destroy the human race!!!so that is why we need to fight this influanza thing as hard as we can!!!

Summer to Kill Swine Flu in U.S. and Mexico?
The hot and humid days of summer could have a lower transmission rate, according to the Jeffrey Shaman, an assistant professor at Oregon State University in Corvallis, who studies how the water cycle affects the spread of disease. Shaman found that flu viruses survive longer and transmit more easily during low absolute humidity, so this is important because by the end of summer the viruse could have an ending point, and this summer there will be less ingeries.

By the time a hamburger finally lands on a dinner plate, it has hugely effected the environment. According to Swedish scientist Ulf Sonesson, the process of making a one half-pound all-beef burger adds the equivalent (made up of other greenhouse gases) of about 19 times that hamburger’s weight in carbon dioxide

In a way it is very important it people with evidence that the earth is getting warmer..... and people serouisly need to watch what there eating !!!!!! they should totally close down provides MCDONLDS

i think it's cool that we have specific brain waves that keeps us stay sleeping when we are in a deep sleep or that wakes us up from that deep sleep.

A University of Toronto study has the first real evidence that our mood literally changes the way our visual system sees our visual experience meaning that seeing the world through rose-coloured glasses is more reality than metaphor

i think this is vital info because maybe in the future we all would have rose colored glass as an everyday nessacity and it can help resolve world problems by being more calm and in a good mood to make peace!!!

From a long time, scientists have been looking for what’s happening in people' mind while they’re sleeping. Your brain cells are always busy even if you’re in a deep sleep. Neurons, brain cells that contain electricity, keep your mind buzzing even if your body is resting. Occasionally, neurons take breaks as person heads into deep sleep. These pauses in neuron activity help keep people asleep, even if they hear noises or are touched.
The brain has long been one of the strangest parts of the human body. Studies like this one help scientists open a window onto the inner workings of our heads and possibly figure out how the circuitry works. Understanding how neurons behave is important, but scientists also need to know what these cells do when they're not at work. As this study shows, neurons take a break so you can too.

A mathematician found that mathematics could help police found criminals. People who solve crimes look for patterns that might reveal the identity of the criminal. Crooks will break the law closer to where they live, because it’s easy to get around in your own neighborhood. If the police see a pattern of robberies in an area, they have to look for a suspect who lives just near the crime scenes. So the farther away from the area a crime takes place, the less possible it’s the same criminal did it. Police could get better clues to the location of a criminal’s home base by combining these patterns with a city’s layout and historical crime records. O’Leary is creating a new computer program that will quickly give information and clues for a city. His program would give also an information about the people who live in the city, and information about how a criminal’s patterns change with age.
I think this program is important and a lot useful because it could help cops around the world found criminals by using the program.

Animals like birds, dogs, and even salamanders know math before human did. The ability to solve math problems is also showing up also in creatures like animals. Monkeys know the difference between two and three, dogs could calculate the fastest route. Animal mathematicians are teaching scientists things about numbers. Now scientists found that nature probably discovered math long before people did.
This study of animal mathematicians help scientists found how people learned to add, subtract, multiply and even indicate what kind of math people did, without being thought by somebody. Watching animals solve problems could also make math more fun for people who say they can't stand the subject.
This article is important because it shows us that animals are maybe more smarter than people.

Be careful what you say around your dog. It might understand more than you think.
A researcher in Germany say that a border collie named Rico knows the names of about 200 objects. The dog also learns words for new objects easily and could recognize them more than 3-years old boy would. The dog’s word-learning skill is as good as that of a parrot or chimpanzee.
In an experiment, the researcher took 200 objects in a room that Rico might know and putted then in 20 sets of 10 objects a row , and told his dog to go bring the name of one of the objects, and the dog just go there and bring the exact object.
Rico got 37 out of 40 because he couldn’t recognize the object, he had to understand the word and then go fetch for it.
In the second experiment, the scientist took one object that Rico had never seen or heard of before and put it in a room with seven objects who he already knows the name. The dog's owner told him to fetch the object, using a word Rico had never heard. Rico found the object by eliminating the objects he knew their name, and he brought the right object.
This experiment is important because it shows that dogs are smarter also, and they could understand our language just by hearing it several times.

In lake bikal , siberia strange circles have been found there agaim. They were spotted by astronauts. And it is a mystery as where they came from.

recently experts have found out and were able to explain the mystery, apparently it it the methane gas rising from the lake.

"Methane emissions can create a rising mass of warm water that begins swirling in a circular pattern because of the Coriolis force, or the phenomenon caused by the Earth's rotation that also helps create cyclones." that is how the circle were formed.

umm ... well i think that this article is importnat , interseting to some people but not to peaopl who dnt care abt stuff like this..!!! :D :)

there are two advantages and disadvantage of this. the advantage is that hurricans are going to be reduced and the disadvantage is that there could be heavier rain for the united states.

this artciel is very important beacuse its like a warning so that people can knw wats going on an prepare themselves.!!!! :) :D

Scientists have made the surprising finding that typhoons trigger slow earthquakes, at least in eastern Taiwan. Slow earthquakes are non-violent fault slippage events that take hours or days instead of a few brutal seconds to minutes to release their potent energy.

i think that this is very important because this can effect our lives if all of a sudden it started happening all over the world it would be a very shakey ride from one place to another

Ok here are my articles all four of them at 1 time:
Article 1:congratulations to all scientists.a new element have been found.the element number 112 was found in Germany. they are still looking for a name for the element number 112.but it will be named within 6 months from now.the new element approximately 227 times heavier than hydrogen which makes it the heavier element in the periodic table.i think this is important and new elements are good to find because then we know there is always more stuff in the world.
Article 2: hahahaha i like this article i think it's intresting. all of us know that there has been a lot of conflicts between the sexe male and female and that men say that they are stronger and have to do all the work while females just sit home and cook and mate with them. a lot of scientists have been to find something to proove this theory wrong and they have.Chang Seok Han and Piotr Jablonski at Seoul National University, Korea.this two scientists have found that a female water striders has won the challenge and as males try to force them to mate the females protect their genitalia, and wont give up until the males start tapping their middle leg to make a song for the females.i agree that females have changed and that are the same as males now
article 3: A new robot made of carbonfiber can stand ,and slowly walk on water. The way they got the idea is from watching insects, surface tension tends to present the water's surface from breaking, and the robot's legs from sinking in.i dont thing this is important and i dont know what are they going to use this robot for it's too tiny.but i put it up here because i think it's intresting and i like the video go check it up in the site.
article 4:being a night owl in high school hurts you gpa in college. i put this article here because im a night owl and i know most of the guys in our class are.the article says.that if you don't have a sleeping routine, regular bed time, and sleeping in a comfartable bed is important during the students high school years because it affects your gpa.i think this is very important and i agree with it guys if you want a better gpa then sleep in a better bed and have waking and sleeping routines.

i will response to salim's article about swine flu as everyone know this flu is killing a lot of people around the world now so i think if summer helps decreases so be it even if it gets too hot. it's better than having one person infecting everyone.

driss: in my article i will talk about panda's near extinction.

recently, Giant Pandas were disappearing at an alarming rate. As human populations expand, bamboo forests, the Giant Panda's natural habitat shrinks. Combined with logging and the natural dying out of bamboo forests, pandas are forced to seek new areas of bamboo, but many fail and end up dying of starvation instead. So people to bigin preserving and to take care of panda's or they will be extinct and they to be free so they can have a lot of baybies.

driss: in this article i will talk about nuclear disaster.

One of the scariest things about nuclear power is when something goes wrong and an accident occurs. Radiation is released into the environment and people get hurt. Two of the most famous nuclear accidents occurred at the Three Mile Island reactor 2 in the United States and the Chernobyl reactor 4 in the former Soviet Union. People need to stop creating more of this bombs or the hall world will be destroyed

scientist have just found that fake drugz scientifically referred as placebos have the same effect as real drugz. the placebos effect as this is named is usaully to test drugz if they work , butr if docters use placebos on patient and tell that this pill will make u better it does. becauese these suger pills trig some nerves in your brain and give the same effect as the real thing. because ur body exects a rezerd so phycholygic your body send this chemical called dopamine and makes you feel good.

i think this is good becuase the placebos have no side effect and gives you the same effect as with the ral drug with all the same chemical in it, and it is cheaper for the people this is th best evention ever made by human kind.

http://www.livescience.com/animals/090528-giant-lemur.html

New Giant lemur Species were discovored in Madagascar.the lemurs are a group of primates = mammals.
the smallest of the three giant lemurs, with an estimated weight of 35 kg.The first addition to the group in more than 100 years. These features suggest that P. kelyus might have chewed tougher foods such as seeds. The other two giant lemurs are though to have fed mostly on leaves and fruit. this is important because the more people discover new things the more they learn how to live a better life .
